Round 11 - Donington Park

Tommy Bridewell gets ready to head out on track at Donington Park

Tommy Bridewell secured a fantastic second place in Race 1 and third in Race 2 for the Oxford Ducati Racing team . Tommy is currently lying in third place in the overall Championship standings.

It was a difficult weekend with mixed conditions on Friday during the practice. Tommy did not want to anything stupid and the team carried out enough laps to gain some useful data. They made a small change for Q3 and Tommy ended up qualifying in seventh position.

Tommy Bridewell leads Iddon and Brookes at Donington

Tommy got a good start in the opening race and was fifth at the end of the opening lap; he took advantage of some on track antics during the opening laps and managed to make his way through to third. He was soon on the move and made a pass on Christian Iddon to take him to second, he pushed hard to fight back to Scott Redding but had to take second at the end of the 20 laps.

He was placed on the front row in third place for race two and was fourth after the opening lap; he continued to fight hard and got himself to third. His lap times were super consistent but he just wasn’t able to make the gap between himself and Brookes and Redding but still secured another very good podium place and keep ourselves in the title contention.

Tommy Bridewell claiims another podium finish

Tommy Bridewell – “I feel like we struggled all weekend trying to get a set up and we missed a lot of track time this weekend due to poor weather conditions. I felt like we were chasing our tail a little bit all weekend and I never felt 100% comfortable. The Oxford Racing Ducati team as always were fantastic and we just didn’t have the pace on the Be Wiser Ducatis here at Donington but we will look at everything, take the positives and hope to come back stronger at Brands in the three races we have there.”

Iain Hopcroft (Team Manager) – “The team worked so well again all weekend, as Tommy said we just didn’t find the ‘sweet spot’ with the bike at Donington but Brands Hatch is a great circuit for us and we can still win some races and come out on top. Thanks to everyone who has supported us this season, we can’t do it without you.”

Round 12 takes place at Brands Hatch (18th – 20th October).
